Sit, Walk, Stand - a 40 Day Walk Through of Ephesians

DAY 10 OF 40

Eph 2:3-7

Sin is living below the ideal and original design that God intended. Sin has the ultimate marketing campaign though. Sin is sold as the ultimate expression of freedom. “To do, what I want, when I want, with whom I want and how I want.”

But listen to Paul describe our lives before Jesus saved us:

Eph 2:3 NIV
All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

So often things start innocently. Things may have started as a choice, but like an addict, it goes from something we enjoy to becoming a coping mechanism. We become slaves to it, all the while convincing ourselves that “I’m in control and can stop whenever I want”. But sin dehumanises us. Truth is, we aren’t free, but are slaves to sin.

Eph 2:4-5
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved.

Verse 7 shows us why God has shown us such great love.

Eph 2:7
...In order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Heaven will be filled with worship forever because it will take all of eternity to understand God’s great kindness and love. The worship will be a continuous appropriate response.
