How to Better Hear God's Voiceનમૂનો
Silent Meditation
Embracing silent meditation is crucial in my Christian life. As a "charismatic Christian" who enjoys dynamic music, I still opt for personal times of quiet, even without music, to not get carried away by my emotions and risk not knowing what my spirit is experiencing. I emphasize the importance of not being solely guided by emotions, as they are not always indicative of the spirit's activity.
Pausing, meditating, and being silent before God are practices I find essential. Psalm 46:10 says "Be still, and know that I am God," Habakkuk 2:20 "But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him," and Psalm 63:6-7 "On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night."
Silent meditation, combined with disciplining the mind, fosters growth in discerning God's voice. In Lamentations 3:26, it is stated that "it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."
I strongly encourage you to take moments for meditation and silence, even if it can sometimes be challenging when the mind wanders. Learning to discipline the mind in these moments of silence can reveal a soft and subtle voice that isn't consciously constructed, but rather a thought placed by God. It's like an intuition: God speaks to your conscience, it's a phrase that's there, and you know you didn't construct it. You know it's something that settled in your mind, and it's God's voice. I also encourage you to be sensitive to this reality!
Let's pray together:
Lord, I want to learn to be silent to hear Your voice! Your Word is precious, and I want to cherish it like never before. Teach me to listen to You again! Amen.
