Finding Hope in Insecurity With Amy Carmichael

DAY 4 OF 6

To one depressed by failure

First John 1:9 is my word too. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

There is more in me to be forgiven than in any of you. I think I must be rather like the woman who loved much because she was forgiven much (Luke 7:47).

The Lord has borne with me all these years. How can He? Oh, His patience, His continuance in love, knowing all and yet still loving—it is too wonderful for me ever to understand. He takes the dust we lay at the foot of the cross.

Isn’t this a nice version of Isaiah 46:4: “I have made and I will put up with thee.” It has been my word lately—so comforting—and I give it to you.
