Day 21: From Complacency to Action:
Congratulations! You made it to the final day of the Advance: Living Unstuck & Moving Forward in Faith Plan. I pray that through what we’ve talked about over the past 20 days, you find yourself equipped and empowered to live the way God intended! On our final day, we’ll discuss how we can move from a place of complacency to a place of action.
I want to encourage you to think of ways you can continue to “take ground” from this point forward in the dreams God has put on your heart. James 2:17 (NIV) says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Many people live in fear of stepping out and doing something because they fear failure, missing it, or worrying about what others will think. Here’s the key—start taking steps! Take steps towards your dreams and purpose. The longer you put off responding to what God is leading you to do, the more unsure you will become. Sometimes, we think we are waiting on God, when in reality, God is waiting on us to take steps of faith in what He’s already spoken.
I encourage you to start taking steps of faith towards the dreams God has given you. They may seem like small steps, but as you step out, you will see how God works. You will see the miraculous way He will provide for your dream. He will connect you to the right people as you are trusting and following His lead. All these things await you after you begin to take steps of faith. You never know the impact of your steps of faith and how they can influence others. With each step of faith, you will gain more and more courage.
In the military they use the phrase “taking ground” in reference to moving forward and conquering territory; even in sports, the phrase “take ground” is used when they are talking about a team advancing. As I have prayed, I felt the Lord speak this phrase to my heart, for you: this is your year to take ground!
One thing I love about our foundational story of Joshua and Caleb going in to possess the promised land is that in Joshua 13:1, after they had conquered 31 regions and won great victories, the Lord spoke to him and said, “You are now very old and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.” In other words, God was saying, you’ve taken territory but there is still more I have promised to give you. I love Caleb’s response to this. He said, “I am 85 years old, but I am still as strong as the day Moses sent me out; I am just as vigorous to go to battle now as I was then. Now give me this mountain that the Lord has promised me!” (Joshua 14:10b-12). Here’s what I want you to get in your spirit: there are still greater things in store for your life and family! God always takes us from faith to faith, glory to glory, and strength to strength!
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20, NIV).
All throughout the Bible, we see stories of men and women of God who went through different yet difficult seasons. However, as they put their faith in God, He gave them guidance on the steps to take. Whatever that is for you, realize you have what it takes because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Start where you are with what you have. You can make a difference! It’s your time to move forward in steps of faith! It’s your year to advance!
