DAY 11 OF 25

All to Serve

Luke cared for people, their well-being, and the truth about Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. Luke was a doctor and cared for people physically, but God called him to care for people holistically as well. He was used to write down the truth about Jesus Christ in all of its detail so that people, including a man he named Theophilus (Luke 1), would be confident in their faith in Jesus Christ. Luke was used as a doctor of body, mind, and spirit, as he came to know the truth that God came to save people; and he wanted everyone to know this. He wrote the Gospel of Luke which is known around the world. He also wrote the historical, powerful account of how the church of Jesus Christ began in Acts. Luke served in the background caring for the Apostle Paul, writing down Scriptures and serving people. God can use all of our gifts when they are purposely handed over to him to serve Jesus in dynamic ways as Luke shows us!

THINK and PRAY:

Are you open to serve?

Luke cared about the details. Because of this attribute, in his gospel, we read about a broad spectrum of people from all different backgrounds and needs coming to know God through faith in Jesus Christ. Luke wrote with compassion and detail to both Jews and Gentiles. God used his accounts to share the Good News of Jesus with centuries of human beings, and his attention to detail showed his care for people to know the “medicine of the soul”- Jesus Christ. How are you allowing God to use you, to be a letter of Good News to others? Luke used his education, relational care, writing skills, and medical profession to care for people. God gives each one of us opportunities to “write of Jesus” to our families, communities, and church bodies "for such a time as this". First, let’s be confident of what we are taught in the Bible (like Theophilus) and then, go serve as Luke did!
