More of You- 7 Day Fasting Guide to Empty Ourselves and Be Filled With God's Presenceનમૂનો
Day 3: Full + Dull
Ok, go with me for a second here. Do you remember a time when you ate so much that you literally couldn't think straight? I mean the carb overload, brain fog ‘I’m so full I just need to take a nap’ thing is real. There’s a verse in scripture (Prov. 27:7) that talks about how someone who is overly “full” will loathe even something as sweet as honey.
I thought about this in regard to the principle of fasting. When we are full of everything the world has to offer - fully entertained, fully busy, full of enjoyment, food, drink, pleasure, fun.… it leaves us with no room or desire for the things that really are “sweeter” for us.
Being overly full makes us dull. It dims our drive mentally, physically and yes, spiritually.
Fasting is a wonderful way to help reset our lives so we can get hungry again for the things that truly satisfy us. If we want to experience the fullness of God we cannot keep stuffing ourselves with the world.
I felt strongly led to add this: Fasting is not a diet plan. I want to encourage those of you (like myself) that may struggle with this mindset. Even though fasting will more than likely affect your health in a positive manner, this is not the time to repeatedly get on the scale or look for physical results. It could cause confusion and distort the true intention. Remember fasting is an avenue to empty ourselves so we can be filled with the presence of God, not to look better or get down to that size of jeans we were hoping for.
