ADVENTure: The Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Life Changing, Not So Silent Nightનમૂનો
The Adventure:
Following Jesus is the greatest adventure. But why? Maybe you love asking the question “why?” Why is the sky blue? Why do I have to wear shoes? Why do we have to stop at stop signs? Why can’t I pick my nose? Whys are important and to follow Jesus you need to know the why. Jesus does not want brainless robots following Him. Jesus wants people with a brain and a heart who think about Him and love Him.
One of the reasons why following Jesus is the greatest adventure is found in this verse, John 10:10. We see Jesus says that He has come so that we may have life to the fullest. Has your life ever felt empty? Maybe not even empty, but like something is missing from your life? That is because our hearts were made for Jesus and when Jesus is not at the center of our lives there’s something missing in our lives. But with Jesus, our lives are complete and fulfilled. In Jesus, we have a purpose, love God and love people. In Jesus, we have forgiveness of all sins through His death on the cross. In Jesus, we have hope in this world because Jesus has defeated death with the resurrection.
But the verse has something more to say. It says that there is an enemy who wants to keep you away from living this life to the fullest. This enemy will throw everything in our way to make good things God things. There are lots of great things in life: sports, hobbies, friends, money, family. But when those things come above Jesus they become God things- not good things.
Jesus here warns us that life is found in Him. Everything else is not worth having as King. Everything else will lead to destruction but Jesus offers us the path to life.
The Destination:
You may have been asked before “What is Christmas really about?” And you probably know by now it is not about gifts, traditions, lights, or even time with family. It is about Jesus’ birth. Why that is such a big deal is because it is a world changing event. On the day Jesus was born, hope was born. Hope that one day He will die on the cross and rise again so we can have life John 10:10 is talking about. The destination is Jesus and Christmas is the birth of the one who brings life to the fullest.
