3 Bad Reasons to Give (And 3 Good Ones)નમૂનો
Bad Reason to Give: To Gain Public Recognition or Status
Just a reminder, if we’re dropping money in the offering bucket just to get applause, we’re at the wrong show.
Jesus gets straight to the point in Matthew 6 when He makes it clear that if we are giving for the applause of men, we have our reward in full.
But when we give, we should be seeking to honor God and honor the recipients with the gift.
As we do we get to be part of God’s work and His story, rather than drawing attention to ourselves.
Good Reason to Give: Prompted by Conviction and the Holy Spirit
But sometimes, you get this nudge, right?
It’s like God’s whispering, “Hey, see that? Do something about it.”
That's the Holy Spirit connecting your heart to a need.
It’s not a guilt thing; it’s a love thing.
Dive into prayer; if you’re married, chat with your spouse, and when you give, let it be your love in action, your spirit playing a duet with God’s.
Let's pray:
Lord, let our giving be guided by Your Spirit, not seeking attention or praise but seeking to glorify You. Inspire us to give with pure hearts, in secret, where only You see. May our generosity reflect Your love and kindness. Amen.
