The Importance of Remembering What God Has Done: 5 Day Bible Planનમૂનો
Day Four: The dangers of forgetting
God was with the Israelites and David, and they were aware of his presence with them. Astonishingly, they had witnessed some incredible miracles of deliverance first-hand, yet afterwards, they forgot God and wavered in their faith.
There are multiple implications when we forget what God has done for us and lose sight of his greatness. First, we make ourselves miserable and anxious (I am not talking here about depression, the causes of which are entirely different). In the Israelites’ case, they took out their anxieties and worries on Moses, no doubt frustrating him and causing him to become miserable, too.
In David’s case, he again plunges into despair, and his body loses strength because he is paralysed by fear.
The worst consequences of forgetting God’s miracles are experienced by Pharoah, who acts foolishly and does not heed God’s warnings. Pharoah thoughtlessly pursues the Israelites into the Red Sea, the waters sweep back into place, and he and his charioteers die. Thankfully, when we fail to recall God’s mighty acts, the consequences for us are not usually so severe, but we can still act senselessly.
Reflect: Do you find it easy to remember that God sent his son to save you and is working for your good? When you forget, are you susceptible to becoming miserable or acting foolishly?
Prayer: Trustworthy Lord, I don’t want to forget your goodness to me, but I know I am not perfect and will occasionally lose sight of your faithfulness. Help me continue acting in your wisdom at those times, and please protect me. Amen.
About this Plan
In this Bible plan, be reminded of God’s goodness and learn from biblical characters who were also forgetful. God spoke to them and also wants to remind us of his faithfulness.
