Basic Tools Can Bring Incredible Depth
Okay, yesterday you read how disciples use tools like reading the Bible, talking things over with other followers of Jesus, and especially prayer to help them dig deeper into discipleship.
But, you also might have felt like you’ve heard all that before. It feels too basic. How are you supposed to really dig in?
This next video explains it all. Make sure you’re prepared. Get ready for some answers—and not just “Sunday School answers.”
Amazing! There’s so much room to dig deeper when you use the tools God’s given you to help you follow Him. Take a look at the suggestions from today’s video for ways to go deeper in prayer.
- Pray by yourself.
- Pray with some friends.
- Pray without words.
- Pray with a journal open.
- Pray only thanks.
- Pray a confession.
- Pray for something impossible.
- Pray for transformation.
- Pray for someone else to be blessed.
The more you think about it, the more you’ll realize there are countless ways to use the tools of prayer, studying the Bible, and talking with others who are following Jesus to help you dig deeper into a life of discipleship.
Challenge yourself: Choose one way you can dig deeper into prayer this week. Pick one that feels like it might be a little difficult for you. Examples: If you usually complain to God, try praying only thanks. If you’ve never asked anyone else to pray for or with you, try praying with some friends. See how many times you can do your prayer challenge this week.
Pray: God, thank You for allowing me to come to You any time, any place through prayer. It really is amazing how much You care and listen. Help me to dig deeper in prayer as I learn to follow You better and better. In Jesus’ name, amen.
