God's Redemption Story (Genesis)

DAY 3 OF 25

Sin entered the world when Eve and then Adam ate the fruit God had told them not to eat. Neither Adam nor Eve woke up that morning and said, “I’m tired of God the tyrant. I’m going to rebel and do something really horrible!” Oh, no, they only decided to try life not God’s way. Biting into fruit was a simple step that changed the course of humanity.

And as Satan has pointed out, they did not die physically when the sweet flesh touched their lips. Instead, their death was much more subtle—and far more painful. That little drop of juice stained their hearts and made them (and all of us) too dirty to be in the presence of our holy God.

So often, our own sin is not a dramatic turn toward great evil but a small course adjustment in our own direction. And our stained hearts drive a wedge between us and God.

But there is good news despite our weakness and selfishness. Our Father loves us so much that he had a plan from the start—way back in the garden—to send His Son to wash our stains with his own blood. Thank you, Jesus!
