EVERYBODY’S FINDING THEIR TRUTH

“My truth.” That’s the phrase these days. What that really means is “My feelings.” It’s ok to feel your feelings, but when what we feel becomes “our truth,” we are inviting chaos into our lives. Without the foundation of truth, we’re like astronauts floating around in space without gravity; one bump could send us floating away for miles. Truth gives us something to stand on, something to ground ourselves to.

So, what is the truth?

One of the boldest things ever said by a human was said by Jesus:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

That’s bold, and here is where we come to a crossroads. At a certain point, you have to make a decision: are you going to trust Jesus’ truth, the culture’s truth, or “your truth”? You’ve already tried your feelings. How is that working for you? You can look at our messed-up culture and see all the mentally and emotionally unhealthy people and know that’s not working either. So, what do you have to lose?

To know the truth is to know Jesus, and to trust the truth is to trust Jesus.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Jesus, help me know Your truth by spending time with You in Your Word. Speak to me. Teach me. Then, help me to trust You even when it doesn’t make sense, even when it challenges me, even when it’s unpopular. Help me to know and trust. Amen.
