Every Woman's Story: Peace

DAY 1 OF 7

Is there a map to peace?

I thought I understood the trail map. I picked the yellow trail, fired up my GPS watch, and started to run. It was a hot day, but I decided not to bring water. Or my phone. I didn’t count on the poor markings for the yellow trail—or any trail, for that matter.

Soon, I was lost in a park I didn’t know well, without water or my phone. There were no trail markings anywhere I could find. That’s when the panic started. I stopped and prayed. There was no one in sight. I needed the right path.

Eventually, I backtracked enough to find signs to help me get back, and I vowed never to run in strange parks without my phone again. But it was a close call. Our life’s paths aren’t too different. Without the right path, we will get lost. We will not get to the peace with God we long for.

Act

Go to a park and walk or run one trail, following the signs (without getting lost). Observe how much peace you have, knowing you can find your way back.

Pray

God, I want your path of peace through Jesus. Keep me yearning after it.

About this Plan

Every Woman's Story: Peace

When life gets to be too much, we start scrambling for peace. We look for something, anything, that will stop the feeling of being overwhelmed. We often look for peace in the wrong places. It never lasts. Most of it does harm. God isn’t stingy with peace. Like a cool sip of water on a hot day, he will refresh us amid the overwhelming and the hard.
