“Magnify” – We Are Messengers’ Darren Mulligan
Do you feel alone, so desperately lonely even when you are surrounded by people? Have you ever felt angry, frustrated, and dissatisfied when everything is not going right? Do you know what it feels like to be filled with fear, purposelessness, and drowning in a melancholy that makes no sense to you?
I do, more often than I should.
In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness.” The Creator of the world has promised us abundant life. So why does it not feel like it? The answer stings.
We, as believers, have a tendency to take our eyes off Jesus and fix them on ourselves. We are so busy building our own little kingdoms, that in our pride and arrogance, we forego intimacy with God. We choose much lesser things. We, having been rescued, become forgetful, drift back towards the sin we have been taken out of, and put our hopes in so many things other than the King of kings. Paul warns us in 2 Timothy 3:2 that in the last days, “People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.”
“Realign where my hope is set
Until You’re all that’s left”
We need God, through the Holy Spirit, to realign our vision, to transform our mindsets. We must remember that we have been created to love, honor and magnify the Lord our God, for He alone is Holy and worthy of all praise. That is our truest purpose, and when we do anything less than that, our souls ache.
Psalm 34:3
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!”
“Take it all, take it all away
Magnify no other name"
Lord, destroy everything in us that distracts from You, everything in us that lures us away from intimacy with You. God, tear down anything that would attempt to share Your Glory. Father, crush our lust, pride, envy, arrogance, selfishness, greed, bigotry, self-loathing, hatefulness and apathy.
“God be greater than the worries in my life
Stronger than the weakness in my mind
Louder, let Your Glory come alive
Be Magnified”
Isaiah 58:11 is a wonderful promise for those who choose the Lord daily, and whose heart’s desire is to magnify Him. “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”
