God’s Vision

What if God told you He would give you and all your people the island of Jamaica? What would you do? That is what God is telling Joshua in verses 3-4. The size of the land that the children of Israel were to cross over the Jordan and possess was roughly the size of Jamaica.

You may think Jamaica isn’t all that big, but you have to look through the eyes of Joshua centuries ago and not your modern-day view. Joshua had only known Egypt and the wilderness. That’s like saying you have never left the city where you were born and its neighboring towns. Cars, planes, and trains do not exist. It takes you all day to travel a few miles. Jamaica is huge when you look at it from Joshua’s perspective.

Has God shown you His vision for your life, and it looks huge to you? So big, in fact, that it makes you stop and wonder, “Is He really talking to me?” That’s where some of us are right now. We are stopped dead in our tracks, looking at the land God promised us and unsure if it is attainable. It’s farther than we’ve ever been. It doesn’t look like anything we have ever seen. It’s BIG.

God has a vision for your life. He may not have revealed it to you yet, but don’t fret! He is waiting for the perfect time to show you what He has in store for you. In fact, you are reading this plan so you will not be left wondering if God is talking to you when He opens your eyes to all He has planned for you. You will be prepared and equipped to move when He says move.

God knew He had given Joshua a lot to take in. This is why He reminds him in verse 5 that He will be there for him like He was for Moses. He will not leave him or forsake him. He will not leave or forsake you either. God did not lead you to the Promise Land to let you figure it out on your own. He will be with you every step of the way. Don’t let the size of God’s vision for your life stop you from going where God has destined you to go. Gather your people and prepare to walk into the land God promised you. Welcome to Jamaica!
