Who Am I Really? A Journey to Discover Your True Identityનમૂનો
According to the KING, you are STRONG.
- LORD, You are my strength! You make me as surefooted as a deer. Through your strength, I am able to tread upon the heights. ~Habakkuk 3:19
- LORD, You are my strength, my song, and my salvation. I will praise and exalt You forever. ~Exodus 15:2
One of the biggest lies of the enemy is, "You can’t do this". However, his cynicism is often cloaked in less obvious verbiage: “It’s not worth fighting for. You’re not strong enough to see this thing through. You’re wasting your time. You don’t have what it takes.”
Through the enemy’s subliminal scorn and our own negative thoughts, we begin to waiver in our resolve, especially when we have trusted in our own strength and abilities.
But as Christians, we do not need to rely on our own strength and abilities. As a matter of fact, we can accomplish a whole lot more through our weaknesses than we can through our strengths.
Why?
Because when we are weak, God is strong!
On a daily basis, I minister to women seeking freedom from eating disorders or women desiring to find contentment in the body they have right now. Regardless of where they fall on the spectrum, each individual faces a similar challenge—overcoming the lies of the enemy, turning the “I can’t do this” mentality into a mindset of “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
It is said that the greatest distance we will ever travel is the seventeen inches from our head to our heart. How very true!
For this reason and many others, we need to arm ourselves with the sword of the Spirit, filling our hearts and minds with biblical truths that counteract the enemy’s lies and pray every day, God, help me overcome my unbelief.
No matter what obstacles you face today, remember, you are strong, and you can do this!
Make it Personal:
- What are some of your weaknesses?
- In what ways have they hurt you or others?
- Describe a time when God worked through one of your weaknesses and brought about a positive end?
Action Step:
One of the ways that God uses our weaknesses is by having us openly share our struggles with others. Find someone you trust and acknowledge an area of your weakness with them.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for my areas of weakness because through them I draw closer to you and find strength. Please show me how I can encourage someone today by being honest about my dependence on you. Amen.
