30DaysOfBibleLettering - Round 4 નમૂનો
My burden is light.
Matthew 11:30
Do you ever wake up in the morning with heaviness in your heart, weighed down by the question of who you are, what in the world you're doing, and how much you fall short?
As a mother of four boys aged 13 and under, I have had the privilege to witness the growth and development of four very interesting, distinct individuals. My heart melts for infants, so baby season was always my favorite. I've also spent a vast amount of time attending to the smallest, repetitive, most mundane things: washing soiled bottoms, picking up toys, cleaning up mealtime messes, dealing with nighttime wakings. And then there is the habit training, disciplining, teaching, reminding, reprimanding, over and over, more and more. One need after another, in a never-ending cycle. It is heaviness.
It's ironic that the more years I add to my life, the more I realize how painfully lacking I am. When you are knee-deep in the middle of all this action, it can really make you wonder if any of it will amount to anything at all. My mind wanders, and sometimes I find myself thinking: I'm not getting the job done, so maybe I am really the wrong person for the job. Besides, when will my time, my body, my space be my own again? When can I eat my dessert without having to share it? Disappointment and anger set in.
The Lord reminded me in Psalm 90 that time is fleeting. The days may seem long, but the years are short. I may struggle to make meaning and significance of these repetitive tasks, but it is not my work to do so. I may not have all the knowledge and skills to be the perfect parent, but God hasn't asked me to be perfect. What He does ask of me is that I show up and be faithful to keep at the littlest things.
God alone will establish the work of our hands, and it is He who offers to take this heaviness and give us instead a yoke that is easy, a burden that won't crush.
