Jacob had stolen his brother Esau’s family blessing. In other words, he had basically stolen his future. Not good, right? Well, twenty years later, the brothers were going to reunite, and Jacob was rightfully terrified. After what he’d done to his brother, the reunion couldn’t be all that awesome. But when Jacob and Esau met, Jacob’s fears proved unfounded. Somewhere in the twenty years away from one another, Esau had forgiven his brother. Just like that, Jacob was set free. And there’s a lesson in there for us, too! When faced with the need to forgive, we can forgive simply because Jesus has forgiven us. We have been blessed with the gift of forgiveness through Jesus; because of that, we have more than enough grace, love, and mercy to extend to others. So when someone does something to hurt or wrong you, let yourself be reminded of the gift of forgiveness you have already been given in Jesus.
In fact, you can start today! Thank God for the gift of His forgiveness in your life. And then, pray that He would help you extend the same forgiveness to others in your life when you need help letting go of the hurt.

About this Plan
Stories teach us life lessons that stick with us well after the last page is turned. That may be why Jesus often told stories to convey a big idea or truth. He knew stories would connect with our hearts. We’ll dive into a few of those stories (parables) together. As we study, we’ll discover the power of those stories and how they can apply to our lives, as well as the power of Jesus as a teacher and a storyteller.
