My Story Your Glory - an Eight-Day Reading Plan by Matthew Westનમૂનો
My Schedule Your Glory
I’ve heard different variations of this quote, but they all ring true. “Show me where you spend your time, and I’ll tell you what is most important to you.” Those words sting a bit, don’t they? What a great reminder that we can talk all day long about what matters most to us. But if that talk doesn’t align with our actions, it isn’t true.
I could tell you that no one matters more to me than my wife and kids. But if my schedule shows I’ve spent zero time with them this week, then how can it be true? You make time for the things that truly matter to you.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to be more efficient with my time, how to accomplish more, waste less time. The internet is full of “life hacks.” A life hack is a way to be more efficient with your time. I remember an old “Seinfeld” episode when Kramer’s life hack was to install a garbage disposal in his shower so he could make a salad while he bathed. That’s one life hack I won’t be trying!
Here’s a life hack that is worth trying. Take an honest look at your schedule. Does what you spend the bulk of your time on align with what you would tell someone matters most to you if they asked? If not, there may be some things you need to “hack” out of your life (See what I did there?).
When I tell people that Jesus is my everything, but then I am too busy to spend even five minutes reading His Word, then my words are empty. Jesus’ schedule always gave God glory. Scripture shows He always made time to pray (Matthew 14:23). I want to follow Jesus’ example. If I want my story to give God glory, my schedule needs to give God glory.
By reading this devotion, you are scheduling time to give God glory. With the rest of your quiet time, ask God to show you ways you can tweak your schedule to reflect better your desire to give God glory. Then, take the bold step of “hacking” lesser things out of your life to better focus on the things that matter most!
DO SOMETHING:
- What two things come to your mind that could be “hacked” from your schedule today?
- Share this devo with a friend today!
About this Plan
