Prayer
Prayer is an essential element for plugging into the type of power that is an absolute necessity to save our children. Our prayers function as the superior defensive weapon against the devil’s darts that are thrown at our children. This life-saving wisdom might be the only thing that will suppress the enemy and spare your children’s lives.
Our first prayer weapon is to plead the blood of Jesus over our children. Pleading the blood of Jesus is an older term that was heard quite often back in the day. When you plead the blood of Jesus over an individual, you are asking for the power of Christ to work within any and every problem. It is a symbolic term that recognizes and acknowledges that the blood shed by Christ on the cross now covers all who believe in Him.
The blood of Jesus is the only defense against Satan and his demons. Jesus died on the cross for all our sins—in their entirety. His act included the sins we committed yesterday, the ones we commit today and the ones we will commit in the future. This is when God reconciled Himself to all of us—even the greatest of sinners. The blood of Jesus is the power source for life and victory over darkness. The power from His blood will never run out. When we mix our testimony of overcoming in coordination with the blood of Jesus, we are guaranteed to defeat the enemy. When you plead the blood of Jesus, you are announcing that your child belongs to and is protected by God.
We can also use a second type of prayer that involves reading God’s Word and praying it back to Him. In specific battles, you can take a verse and remind God of what He said. It is very reassuring to pray His Word during your darkest moments. Perhaps in your study time, you will find a verse that resonates with you. Do not hesitate to personalize it and speak it out. Over time, you may feel led to shift to another verse or add it to the verses you are already using. What you choose to plead over your children is up to you and God, but you can be assured that every word you speak in prayer is moving mountains.
