UNPACK This...Biblical Truth From the Super Bowlનમૂનો
Was Peyton’s Last Game On Super Bowl Sunday?
One of the biggest storylines heading into Super Bowl 50 was whether or not it would be Peyton Manning’s last game in the NFL. His response to the questions being thrown his way by reporters was: “I haven’t made up my mind, but I don’t see myself knowing that until after the season.”
Manning also stated, “…I’ve really just tried to focus on that one week and not think too far ahead, and that has really helped me out a lot. I think, had I been thinking about things past that it would’ve affected me, and so it’s really served me well till this point, and I’m going to stick with that for one more week.”
I respect Manning’s mindset about not looking too far ahead and trying to remain in the moment. He was intent to soak in the entire experience of playing in another Super Bowl, instead of worrying about what was going to happen next.
When it comes to our own lives, planning is important, but sometimes we miss out on the moment because we’re always thinking ahead. We, too, should enjoy the season that we’re in, relish the moments, and make the most of who we’re with.
Too often we don’t appreciate what we’re experiencing, or what God is revealing to us, because we’re preoccupied with something else or what we have to accomplish tomorrow. The Bible says in Matthew 6:34, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Super Bowl 50 did, in fact, end up being Manning’s final professional game. And it is reasonable to conclude that his determination to stay in the moment and not get overly focused on the future played a vital role in helping his team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
With that in mind, let’s be challenged to remember that God has given us breath to accomplish His will today…and if tomorrow comes, we’ll be concerned about it then.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you that You always give me enough strength to accomplish what You would have me do in the day. Help me to focus my attention on giving you glory by focusing my attention on being faithful in the here and now. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
