The Daniel Fast-Jump Start નમૂનો
It’s Not About the Food
On Day 1, I shared how the Daniel Fast isn’t about food, and here I am reminding you again. Yes, I know that sounds crazy, especially coming from me.
Let me explain…
Thinking about dinner takes less time each day when you have your meals figured out. It gives you more time to focus on the true purpose of the fast:
- Coming into alignment with who you are (and want to be) in Christ.
- Placing a demand on your faith.
- Growing your dependence on God and decreasing your attachment to (certain) foods.
Sacrificing food is an outward way to show that what you’re standing in faith for is worth more than those waffle fries…or maybe for you, it’s ice cream...(for me, it’s both.)
There are benefits to honoring God with our minds, bodies, finances, and especially our time. Through fasting, I’ve found:
- Direction in my calling to help families create healthier eating habits.
- Clarity for crucial decisions (professionally & personally).
- Guidance to accomplish financial breakthroughs.
For today’s reflection, consider the ways God has already shown up for you this week. Think through how He makes himself known in your life, no matter how small.

Tips for Eating Out
Cooking every day is already hard. It’s even harder when you’re on the Daniel Fast. So, you'll probably need to eat out at some point, and being prepared is the best way to avoid slipping up. Here are some tips to help you stay on plan.
- Look for multicultural restaurants that often have dishes like curry, stir fry, vegetable sautees, etc.
- Research the menu ahead of time to avoid making a rushed decision.
- Order sauces on the side and ask what’s in them.
- Let the waiter know you’re vegan. They may be able to help make suggestions that fit closer to the fast or ask the chef to prepare items differently. Note: You may still have to make some modifications. Everything vegan isn’t Daniel Fast-approved… like Oreos. Vegan? Yes! Something we eat on the Daniel Fast? No!
- Restaurants offering build-your-own bowls or plates are a wonderful way to customize your dish without thinking too much.
