WHO'S WITH ME? - Devotion with Ps Cam Jensen
Like me, you’re probably not standing in front of a burning bush, but we are standing at the start of a new season. A year holds possibilities and unknowns, and now is a time to ask God: “What do you want to do this year?”
Beware, though; it’s a dangerous question because, like in Moses’ story, God sends people when God sees a need. And, if you let Him, He will send you this year.
It’s not all flowery, though, because also, like Moses, we are quickly confronted with every single reason why we are not the right fit: “Who am I that I should go?”
He quickly reflects on his history and sees that he’s tried and failed before. He looks at his abilities and sees that he can’t speak, and now he’s being called to stand before the president. He comes to a pretty fitting conclusion:
“God, you have got the wrong person.” But that is before we get to God.
What’s incredible to me is that God doesn’t correct him, and He doesn’t condemn him.
By his own hand, Moses's skills, word, and reputation are not enough. He will not be able to lead the people out of Egypt and through the desert. BUT here’s the thing, it’s not about Moses.
God’s response is shockingly simple and highly empowering. It is so simple that we think we believe it without question. He responds to Moses: “I will be with you.”
It’s almost like God is answering the wrong question. “God, I didn’t ask you where you’ll be. I asked how you plan on doing this.”
In His classic God wisdom, though, He knows exactly what He’s doing.
It’s not about who you are; it’s about who is with you.
It wasn’t by Moses’ ability or authority that the people were called out of oppression; it was God who was with him.
It wasn’t Moses splitting the waters; it was God who was with him.
It wasn’t Moses making the miracles; it was God who was with him.
You see, my friend, it’s not about who you are but who is with you.
As you engage with your family, friends, workplace, or place of study, it’s not about your personality, abilities, or age; God is with you.
Prayer
Father, today I ask that You wash over my inadequacies and inabilities. I’m sorry if I have focused too much of my attention on them, instead let it be redirected towards You. When I feel out of my depth and small compared to my circumstances, may You help me rightly remember the size of my God. Take my life, once again, and through it see people set free and come into their promise. Amen.

About this Plan
In our personal relationship with Jesus, there is an upward dynamic from earth to heaven - prayers going UP, praises going UP, worship going UP that allow us to know Jesus more intimately. We are also called to have a horizontal axis to our faith - an OUTworking to our world. This is a seven-day reading plan designed to help you have an Up & Out faith this year.
