40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

DAY 16 OF 40

Commune with Jesus

Do you run to the cross every day? Jesus shed His blood so You could have a personal intimate relationship with Him. What keeps you from running to the cross? Does life have you distracted with social media, entertainment, materialistic things, work, managing relationships, spiritual resistance, etc.?
This 40 day fast is not just a beginning-of-the year, check-the-box task. It is a personal invitation from the Lord to grow deeper in Him. We are able to grow personally deeper with the Lord because Jesus poured out His blood for us. Without His blood, we would not be able to boldly approach the throne room of Heaven as a son or daughter. We often get distracted by the things of this world and forget that Jesus is at the table, waiting for us to commune with Him among the distractions. Psalm 23 states that God sets a table for us in the presence of our enemies. Jesus set the perfect example of sitting and dining in the presence of an enemy. In Matthew 26:20 we read that Jesus was reclining at the table with the disciples to eat the Passover supper. Jesus was able to recline and eat at the table with the one who was about to betray Him. He wasn’t anxious knowing what was coming, but He stayed at the table. Take time today to slow down, recline, and take communion with Jesus in the presence of whatever is against you and worship your most high King.

Prayer: Lord, I run to Your cross today. Thank You for what You did for me so that I could commune with You. I set aside all distractions and put all my attention on just being with You. I want to grow in intimacy with You, no matter what is happening around me. Amen.

About this Plan

40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
