10 Pillars : Building a Life in God

DAY 7 OF 10

Thou Shall not commit adultery!

Adultery! No one needs explanations about this! But cheating has a brother, fornication.

There are two types of adultery; sexual adultery and spiritual adultery. God hates both.

God regards adultery as an abomination, an ultimate betrayal, and a rejection of his love; adultery means we have found better than God!

Jesus tells us that even a desiring look (lust) is an act of adultery because we have already committed the act in thought!

  • How many times have we sinned for sexual desires?
  • How often have our eyes focused on each other and caused our 'fall'?

Israel sinned gravely for adultery because she quickly and often left God to go and prostitute herself with other nations and gods. This caused God's wrath to come upon them, and thus lost all the blessings reserved by God for them.

We are a very adulterous generation towards God and have other loves, while our passion should be towards God.

Let's stop being spiritual prostitutes; let's stop being spiritual adulterers. Let us also stop condoning any human form of adultery. It is not because society finds it reasonable to have sexual experiences that we must accept that too.

Let us pray that God will give us incorruptible love for him and our spouse! Let's stop putting ourselves in situations where the temptations are great. Let us avoid testing our resistance!

Let us share this message around us, reject the sexual advances of this decadent society, and turn to the values that God left us.

Let's erect the pillar of fidelity!
