Encourage One Another

The Church in Thessalonica was moving ahead in the strength of the Spirit of God. The brethren were facing problems of persecution. There were questions regarding Jesus’ return. Paul was asking them to comfort and encourage one another.
In today’s day, when the world is going topsy-turvy, these words ring out loud, clear and true. The Holy Spirit is speaking to us that, at all times, we are to encourage one another and comfort each other. This can only happen if we ourselves are Word and prayer based. It must come naturally to us and be our first nature.
A young soldier, during the Second World War, was late for his parade. The British sergeant barked in a loud voice and asked the young soldier the reason for being late. The young soldier was very calm in his reply, “I was engrossed in prayer, that I lost count of time.” The sergeant said, “Since you are a person who prays daily, pray right now.” Without wasting a second, the young soldier knelt down on the parade ground. The boy worshipped the Lord there. The sergeant allowed him into the parade saying, the boy was truthful. He could not do it, if it were not ‘force of habit’.
Earthquakes and other calamities are on the rise. In spite of it all, we must comfort and edify one another to stand firm in our faith and in our Christian walk. We must walk the talk.

Prayer
Lord, teach me to be the comfort and solace the church needs, and to the rest of the destitute and dying world. Amen.
