King of Glory
Christ’s return to heaven is as sudden as His departure. The angelic hosts anticipate the joyful reunion with the Beloved One. But upon rising at the Eternal Father’s command, their voices and instruments set for a welcoming fanfare, they are stunned. They hadn’t expected Him to return as a man. Perhaps He would sojourn as one, but to be a man for eternity? They had sacrificed heaven’s dearest treasure in sending Him, and now the return on their investment is a glorious—but wounded—man! And as this man strides towards them, you can almost hear them ask, “Is this the Son...?”
Then an assuring crescendo rises from the throne: “This is He, the King of Glory!”
