Bear Fruit
James in his letter wrote - Faith without works is dead. When we have faith in Christ, God’s Spirit lives in us and this results in a change in our lives where we bear fruit of good deeds and right attitudes. In a similar vein, John the Baptist preaches that true repentance from sin is seen in the fruit we bear as a result of repentance - the fruit of not doing again the things we repented for. This is a message that we need to hear and apply today where there is much teaching in churches on grace and faith but perhaps too little on the fruit that this should bring in our lives.
Prayer: Lord God, we worship you and thank you for the new life we have in Jesus. We pray that through this, our lives will continue to be transformed so that we bear much fruit in keeping with our repentance and the new life Jesus has given us. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
