The Completely Broken Friendship
I have had relationships break down, and sometimes, no matter what I tried, the other person would not let go of her disappointment in me. As painful as that is to go through, I have developed a bit of a thick skin when it comes to being rejected. It would have seemed impossible to me a few years ago that I could have survived some of the pain that has come my way through broken friendships. But I tell you, I have learned some beautiful lessons from those lost relationships, and I am so much stronger than I could have ever been without enduring those experiences. I mean, I am not going to be writing any of those lost friends a thank you note, but I am incredibly grateful for what God did for me through those trials.
A broken friendship can be one of the most painful experiences. I have been through some extremely difficult betrayals, and I know how much you hurt. Many women are suffering the same quiet grief. There is a comforter who wants to relieve you of your pain through His mercy and grace. He is the best friend you will ever have and the only One who will never, ever reject you no matter what you do. He knows firsthand how much it hurts to be betrayed by someone you trust.
If you are recovering from a painful broken friendship, let me offer some comfort by saying that you are not alone in your suffering. Christ Himself was betrayed by His closest friends. Judas, I mean, wow. That had to feel like a kick in the gut to Jesus even if He did know it was coming. But also Peter, who denied Christ three times, turned out to be a less-than-stellar friend. And in the amazing way Christ does, He forgave them. It doesn’t seem possible sometimes to forgive, especially those who hurt us on purpose. But Christ is there to stand with you and be your comforter and peace giver. He knows exactly how you feel!
