DAY 3 OF 7

A Miracle named Virginia

Hello! Today I want to tell you about a woman named Virginia.

Virginia Hobbs was a prayer warrior!

Even in her late 80s, Virginia would get up at 4 in the morning, and storm the gates of Heaven on behalf of those that she loved. She prayed passionately for her kids, her grandkids, her great-grandkids, her friends, her church, her country, and her pastor. I was so blessed to be the recipient of Virginia's prayers for more than two decades!

Virginia had a chair in her living room that was soaked in prayer. On the fireplace mantle beside the chair, there was a stack of pictures that Virginia would hold in her hand as she prayed with passion and purpose. She loved to pray but it also came at a cost. Virginia would often stay up all night interceding for a prayer request. She was exhausted at times because she believed that prayer mattered and that the person she was praying for mattered even more.

One of the people that she would often pray for was my wife, Laurel. Laurel has a degenerative eye condition that she has been dealing with for almost 30 years, and Virginia would pray for her healing over and over again. What a miracle to know that someone is praying for you with that level of conviction!

Virginia had several scriptures that kept her on her knees. The Bible says:

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” (1 John 5:14, NIV)

“’Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth. If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:22-24, NIV)

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7, NIV)

I had the joy of talking to Virginia just before she went home to be with Jesus. I asked her about her prayer life, and she said, “The miracle that Jesus welcomes me never ceases to amaze me. I have a miraculous invitation to bring all of my precious family and friends to Jesus. That is an invitation that I will never say no to! He loves me! He hears me! He answers me!”

I am to remind you that God has laid you on my heart today. I am praying for you right now! I may not know you, or your needs, but the God who invites me to pray knows everything about you! Through the miracle gift of prayer, I am talking to Jesus about you right now. I am praying for your boldness, healing, strength, and hope today!

I want to challenge you right now to look at the example of Virginia, and to pray for someone else’s miracle right now! God hears you and He will answer the prayer of the one who asks, seeks, and knocks. Your prayers are a miracle gift right now!

Virginia went home to see Jesus a while back. I like to think she just relocated her prayer room to the space right next to the Throne Room of God! All of her questions have been answered and all of the miracles she was a part of (both seen and unseen) have been revealed. We miss you Virginia, but we know will see you again soon.

Remember friend, you are a miracle!!
