Messengers

DAY 1 OF 5

(It would be beneficial to read the Scriptures before beginning each day.)

Today, more so than any other time in history, it is easy to get a message to someone. We can pick up a phone, and a few taps later, someone can know where we are, see a picture of us, or know what we want for dinner, all within just a few seconds! Back in the day, people had to travel from town to town to communicate important information. And without cars or buses and most people have to walk, it could be a dangerous task, especially if you had to travel through the night. Because of how difficult it was, only the most important messages from the most important people were worth sharing.

This whole week we are looking at the story of Acts and the message that the followers of Jesus dared to share. Each day we will have a new Bottom Line, which is our central focus and one-sentence takeaway for the day. Today the Bottom Line is “We are God’s messengers.”

Let’s start with the story of Saul and how he began following Jesus, viewing through the lens of teamwork and how others helped Saul as he became a Christian. Here are some questions that might help with that.

When is a time you have had to use teamwork?

What do you think it means that God can use anyone?

How would you feel if you were a part of the early church and Saul was let into the church? How would you feel if you were Saul?

How should we treat others that are outside of our faith?
