The miracle of God’s answers
I have been on a new faith journey. I have been learning to ask Jesus very direct questions and to wait for His answers.
For years, I was afraid to ask God questions, because I was afraid of what answer I might receive. I was also afraid because I felt unworthy to ask God about anything. I allowed my shame to get in the way of true prayer - both talking to AND listening to God.
My perspective changed one day when my wife made an insightful comment. We were talking about how people often say that “God is silent”. Laurel said, “I don’t believe that God is silent.” She went on and asked me, “If Braden and McKenna (my son and daughter) came to you and asked a question, would you just sit there and stare at them in silence? Of course not! And God is a loving Heavenly Father who loves to answer His children!!!” I was stunned. Laurel was SO right! God is always answering His children, so we need to ASK!
Out of that conversation, I have searched the scriptures and am amazed at how many times a person “inquired of the Lord” and God gave them a direct answer. In 1 Samuel 23, the Bible says:
When David was told, "Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are looting the threshing floors," he inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and attack these Philistines?" The LORD answered him, "Go, attack the Philistines and save Keilah."
Once again David inquired of the LORD, and the LORD answered him, "Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand." So David and his men went to Keilah, fought the Philistines, and carried off their livestock. He inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and saved the people of Keilah.
David said, "O LORD, God of Israel, your servant has heard definitely that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the town on account of me. Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD, God of Israel, tell your servant." And the LORD said, "He will." Again David asked, "Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will."
(1 Samuel 23, NIV)
In just one Bible story, David asks God a question and gets a direct answer! If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, then we can ask for the same Small Miracle, an answer from God!!!
Right now, what do you need to ask God? Do you have the courage to ask? Will you be patient and listen for His answer? Will you trust that His answer is the very best plan for you? Will you trust that you can hear and discern His voice?
The miracle of God’s answer is a gift to all of His children. Pursue it today and expect to hear from God.
You are a miracle!
