My Lord Knows the Way

DAY 1 OF 4

Life can present many avenues for us to follow. We can find ourselves lost and distracted by the latest trends, culture wars, and friends. And if we live our lives the way society influences us, then everything will be good, and people will like us—right?

Let’s think about something. If Jesus became popular for the right reasons, should there be a different way?

I like reading the portion of Luke when our Savior sat down to break bread with tax collectors and sinners. The Pharisees and scribes grumbled when they saw this (Luke 15:2). As He continued His interaction, let’s study our Savior’s response:

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it” (Luke 15:4)?

Instead of shaming sinners like the Pharisees and scribes thought He should, He showed the right approach to meeting a sinner where they are. There is more heavenly joy when a sinner repents than one who lives honorably (see Luke 15:7). Knowing we can follow our Savior and not people, politics, or friends who lead us in the wrong direction is a tremendous relief.

Find a peaceful place. Thank God for giving you the courage to follow Him and not people. Ask Him to empower you or your loved one to return to where they belong in Christ Jesus.
