Romans 8:28 નમૂનો
Pour your love upon Jesus!
In the verses we’ve been reading together this week, God promises that He’ll take care of us, no matter what unexpected things come our way. As our Father, He loves us with unconditional, covenant love. Our part is to love Him with everything that is within us!
“And we know that God causes everythingto work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28, NLT, bold added)
But, you may say, “I have nothing to bring that could be a gift of love to Jesus...my life is a disaster. It’s total chaos. I’m not talented…I don’t have much money…I feel unworthy…I’ve lived in and out of sin.” Do you recognize yourself in these words? Do you know someone who would say this of him/herself?
I believe that the enemy is a liar. The Bible says that he is the father of lies (see John 8:44). This means that there is absolutely no truth, not even an ounce, in him! The enemy tries to plant lies within you to separate you from Jesus, from His grace and love. Which lie am I referring to in particular? The one that says, “I have nothing to give to Jesus.”
I’d like to talk with you about a woman who loved Jesus in her own way. This woman is not Mary of Bethany, the one who anointed Jesus by pouring oil upon his head to prepare Him for burial (this account is found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John). Luke tells us the story of a different woman in his gospel—Luke 7:37-38: “And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.” (NKJV, bold added)
We don’t even know the name of this woman. We only know that she was “a sinner.” Yet, she brought what she had…her fragrant oil, her tears, and her kisses upon His feet.
In verse 47, Jesus says about this woman, “‘Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much.’” (bold added) You can give what is inside of you. You can literally pour out your soul and life at His feet. You can give your love to Jesus, your heart to Jesus, your tears to Jesus.
Don’t say any longer, “I have nothing to offer Jesus”! Love Him in your own way...with your unique and “fragrant oil.” He will joyfully receive all the love you pour out!
Thanks for existing…You are a miracle!
