How to Survive the Wait

DAY 3 OF 5

Key 2: PREPARE

Delay sometimes feels like punishment. When we struggle against what God wants to do for us in the wait, we miss out on the chance to grow or learn something new. If we don’t use this time to prepare, we might make our wait time even longer.

We can either embrace our wait or fight against it. Preparation is the second key to surviving the wait.

What we learn in the wait often allows us to carry the weight of the next season. Maybe there are tools the wait will teach us before we move on. God has a reason for the season that we are in. Proverbs 6:6-8 says Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.

Too many times, we waste the wait. Then we get to what should be our harvest time and realize that if we had just done a little preparation during that wait, we would be in a much better position in this new season.

Let’s use our time in this holding pattern to grow in wisdom and spend time with our Creator learning the lessons he wants to teach us. Preparation is not easy, but it is worth it.

God designed this wait just for us—let’s use it.

Action: Ask God to help you identify what preparations you can make right now.

Prayer: Lord, I need your help understanding the preparations I need to make this season. I also need your guidance to carry them out. Please show me the way to prepare. I offer myself and ask that you do whatever you need to in me to get me ready for whatever is to come. Please help me to develop the tools I need to carry out your plan for my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
