Daily Bible Reading – May 2022 God’s Renewing Word of Promiseનમૂનો
May 12
Introduction
When the Philistines return the Covenant Box, they include gold models of the tumors and mice as gifts in payment for their sin. When the Covenant Box arrives in Beth Shemesh, the people are overjoyed and offer sacrifices to the LORD. But seventy men are killed because they looked inside the Covenant Box. To look inside was disrespectful, and those who did it were struck dead. The Covenant Box is then brought to the house of Abinadab in Kiriath Jearim.
Scripture Reading
1 Samuel 6:1—7:1
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Samuel 6:13
The people of Beth Shemesh were reaping wheat in the valley, when suddenly they looked up and saw the Covenant Box. They were overjoyed at the sight.
Reflect
What did the Philistine priests and magicians advise the people to do (verses 3-6)? What arrangements did the Philistines make to return the Covenant Box (verses 7-12)? What was the importance of the Covenant Box to the Israelites? What is of importance within your community of faith?
Pray
Almighty God, keep my heart and mind focused on you. Guard me this day from whatever may tempt me to do what is not in accord with your will. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Samuel 7:2-17: Samuel rules Israel and prays for the people.
