Esther, Born for Such a Time as This

DAY 14 OF 28

Can you imagine it? Think about the mass mourning among the Jews because of the decision King Ahasuerus has made. How much hate had Haman stored up in his heart to want to annihilate an entire people this way?

The Jews fast, weep, and cry out. Their grief is visible to everyone, but their pain and sadness is—most importantly—visible to God. Nothing about all of these events is unknown to Him, and He has placed both Esther and Mordecai in the right position to save the Jewish people.

Who do you run to in your times of sadness? Maybe you have experienced moments in your life when you, like Mordecai, felt torn apart by grief. Perhaps you can’t show that pain or express it to the outside world in a way that makes sense. Just know that the Lord God sees you. He is the Comforter, and He is the One who saves (Psalm 42:11).

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness. You were faithful to Esther, Mordecai and to the Jews of their day. You have been faithful to Your people even to this day. And thanks to Your new covenant, You are also faithful to me. Thank You that I can come to You with everything that occupies my heart—with my joy and gratitude, but also with my pain and sorrow. Thank You that my needs aren't too trivial in Your eyes and that You want to be my Comforter. Thank You for the promise that You will bring salvation to those who give their hearts to you. Amen.

About this Plan

Esther, Born for Such a Time as This

In this plan, we will take you through the book of Esther. We can admire Esther's courage, but we should see the whole picture: Esther, too, needed to be reminded of Who rules and that her life is in His hand. We pray that Esther's story inspires you to see God's hand in your life. God has intentionally placed you where you are for such a time as this.
