Unpack This...Playing In The Super Bowlનમૂનો
Top Tight Ends Block And Receive
I’m a big fan of the tight end position and believe a team with one who effectively blocks and receives has a huge advantage in winning the Super Bowl.
Tight-end, Travis Kelce, proved to be a valuable asset in leading the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. He showed expertise in protecting QB, Patrick Mahomes, and also catching his powerful passes.
The ability to block and receive parallels our own lives. Each day, negativity and temptation come to attack us and we’re required to be a “blocker” by keeping our “QB” (heart, mind, and soul) protected.
When feelings of worry, anxiety, fear, doubt, and anger start coming at us, we must block them so they don't bring us down and take over our lives. Although we have an opponent who attempts to destroy us, Ephesians 6:13-17 provides us with the necessary tools to block well.
God gives us the strength we need to be a “blocker,” and we must rest in His truth and peace as we rely on Him to overcome the negative thoughts and challenging temptations.
The other role of a tight end is to be a “receiver” – to catch the ball, bring it in close, and cling to it.
Likewise, God has made so much available for us to receive. Salvation, grace, mercy, and forgiveness are free gifts we receive when we cling to Jesus. Daily, we “catch” His blessings with thanksgiving and receive His love and kindness with open hands.
We’re told in Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
When we enter into eternity with Christ, we receive an inheritance far beyond what we can comprehend, and even now, as children of God, we receive direct access to Him through prayer.
As we watch tight ends block linebackers and receive passes, let’s be mindful of the importance of blocking…and the abundance of benefits we receive as followers of Jesus.
I’m Bryce Johnson and you can UNPACK that!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for providing me armor to block against temptation and negative thoughts. Thank you for allowing me to receive Your love and grace, and for receiving salvation through Jesus. In His name, I pray, Amen.
