Getting Good With Money

DAY 4 OF 5

Maybe you’ve never suffered from the paralyzing fear of failing with something great you’ve been given, but I have. With great blessing comes great responsibility, and that responsibility (or the fear of it) can cause us to avoid taking action. Telling ourselves that we “don’t deserve it” makes us feel as if we no longer have the responsibility of caring for it. Doing so makes it easy to skirt around our responsibility, because we never claimed it.

The reality is, though, we are called to be good stewards of what we’ve been given. No matter how much money you earn, you’ve been called to manage it well. Even if you don’t earn six figures, you’ve been given responsibility over the money you earn. You’ve been given the duty of saving and caring for your present needs, as well as those of your future self. Whether or not you’ve managed to save over a million dollars for retirement, you are still responsible for using that money wisely.

In my mind, anything and everything I have—money, cars, a house, an education, or family—belongs to God. He gave those things to me, and he gets to tell me how and where to use them wisely.

Prayer

Father, thank you for blessing me so abundantly. Please help me to be a good steward of those blessings and to use them to glorify you. Amen.
