Daily Bible Reading – October 2021: God’s Word of Justiceનમૂનો
October 13
Introduction
Today’s passage discusses the meaning of true worship. Outwardly, the people had continued to worship the LORD. They brought the required sacrifices and offerings, fasted on holy days, and did acts of repentance for their sins. Yet Isaiah proclaims that the LORD says these acts of worship are meaningless if the people do not treat each other with respect and justice.
Today’s Scripture Reading
Isaiah 58:1-14
Today’s Key Verse: Isaiah 58:6
[The LORD says:] “The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free.”
Reflect
This passage suggests that true worship is not only about praising God; it is also about the ways in which we treat one another. What actions must one take in order to participate in true worship, according to what Isaiah has proclaimed? What does God promise to those who put an end to oppression, hunger and suffering? What does this passage mean to you?
Pray
God of justice, teach me to worship You through more than rituals and praise. Help me worship You through acts of justice and fairness. May Your glory be manifest through the welfare of all people. In Jesus' mighty Name. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those suffering from hunger
