Exploring Thriving Through Ephesiansનમૂનો
Paul continues to flesh out what it looks like to live a worthy life relationally. In verse 22 he explains that we are to 'put off' our old ways that are not in accord with how the Spirit would have us live. Verse 24 tells us to 'put on' the new ways we are learning from the Spirit.
But the clincher hides in verse 23. We must make our minds new. Remember- what I think and believe always works itself out in my actions, thoughts, and attitudes. My mind must be renewed. Science has shown the truth of this as we now know that the brain can create new pathways where trauma, pain, and other hardships have dug deep grooves. Whole branches of neuroscience are devoted to understanding how our brains can develop and change. Allowing the Holy Spirit and the scriptures to dwell deeply in us can change our brains.
And as my mind comes more and more under the control of the Holy Spirit, I live differently with others. I am less angry. I quit stealing. I work hard. I think about the words coming out of my mouth and assess if they are needed. I grow in compassion. I learn to truly forgive.
How have you seen your mind renewed?
Paul paints a picture of a person putting on the new self in a variety of areas. Which of these areas do you need to ask the Spirit for help in today?
