Navigating Pregnancy Loss & Trying to Conceive: A 5-Day Plan

DAY 2 OF 5

Friend, I have no doubt that there have been times during your pregnancy that have felt like an attack. Satan wants us to live life based only on what we can see—which is a whole lot of hurt and heartache. He wants to twist well-intentioned words and fling them at us with condemnation. He wants us to believe we’re in the trenches alone, suffering because maybe, just maybe, we made the wrong choice. He wants us to think that because carrying this baby is so incredibly difficult, God must not care.

But God wants us to live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). There is always more to the story than the brokenness that’s so often front and center in this life. He wants us to rest in his Word and the promise that there is no condemnation for those who walk with him (Romans 8:1). He wants us to trust that he is always near. He wants us to cling to the truth that he created this baby. Of course he cares about the life knit together by his very own hands!

Pregnancy after loss is hard because we are walking in the valley of the shadow of death—that of a beloved baby who is no longer with us. In the darkness it’s hard to hear clearly when the resounding echoes of loss and uncertainty surround us.

But we can arm ourselves with truth. We can move forward in faith, even if it means crawling and getting scraped and bruised along the way. We can put on the full armor of God, trusting in his love to guide us when the attacks threaten to overwhelm our entire being.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, remind me that you love me and my baby. Show me that you delight in us. Help me to cling to your words and to look to you for hope. Guide me through the attacks that threaten my peace, and help me to trust that you are in control. Amen.
