Freedom From Porn Begins Hereનમૂનો
Day 17
Emotional Intelligence
We’ve all heard of IQ and how important it is. But EQ is even more important. IQ (intelligence quotient) is a measure of one’s intelligence, while EQ (emotional quotient) is a measure of one’s emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships effectively.
According to Forbes Magazine, the research is clear: a person’s success is determined more by their EQ than their IQ. Not only is emotional intelligence key to success in life but it is critical to breaking free from porn and other unwanted sexual behaviors.
Yesterday we looked at how emotional triggers can lead a person to act out. Learning to identify and address these triggers is essential to walking in freedom. The first step in growing in emotional intelligence is becoming more aware of your emotions. BLASSTED is a simple tool to help you identify how you’re feeling.
The Bible says, "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways" (Proverbs 14:8). It is wise to think about why you do certain things. This is especially true in overcoming a porn habit.
A daily check-in is an opportunity to evaluate your emotions and how they impact your ways. Doing daily check-ins will help you grow in emotional intelligence. This will help you identify triggers and know when you need to address them. For this to be helpful, you have to be consistent and get your reps.
In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear points out an important truth about behavior change: “Habits form based on frequency, not time. One of the most common questions I hear is, ‘How long does it take to build a new habit?’ But what people really should be asking is… how many repetitions are required to make a habit automatic?”
The key to forming new habits is repetition. This is especially true in developing your emotional intelligence. This is one reason we built a free app to make it easy for people to develop new habits like identifying their emotions by checking in daily. A couple of minutes a day is all that is needed to start developing this important skill.
We are going to give you a simple way to check-in using our app.
Today’s Challenge:
- Learn how to check-in using the Freedom Fight app.
- Download the Freedom Fight app.
- Create an account and sign in.
- Check in. (You get bonus points if you add an accountability partner to get your check-in reports!)
