Unleash the Good Life at Workનમૂનો
Unleashing Self-Control and Joy
There is no other source of joy, fulfillment and strength that compares with being in the presence of God and accomplishing His purposes for you. Yet most people are busy chasing what the world has to offer. Many people wear busyness like a badge of honor and are left drained, exhausted and unfulfilled.
Did you know that being busy is a choice? It may not always feel that way, but take a moment to consider how often you choose to be still versus filling every moment with activity.
God wants us to experience the rest, strength, abundance and joy that only comes from being in His presence.
Creating time set apart for you and the Lord is important, but being in His presence does not require that you quit your day job and sit in silence 24/7. It does require that you release the need to stay busy in favor of allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal His plans, then waiting on His timing.
- Be still. You can practice stillness during your morning or evening quiet time as well as in the middle of a demanding workday. Exercise self-control before you respond or jump into activity and take a moment to acknowledge God’s presence with you.
- Wait on God. Those who wait on the Lord will increase their strength and power. Catch yourself before you run ahead of God and allow the Lord to provide you with the resources, direction and clarity you need to make the best use of the time.
- Seek the Lord wherever you are. God is our all-in-all. When you make an effort to seek Him in every situation, you will discover that you lack nothing. We can experience fullness of joy knowing God is there regardless of our circumstances.
As you do these things, you will develop the fruit of the Holy Spirit in greater self-control and more consistent joy and your Kingdom view will become even more vivid.
Prayer
Father, forgive me when I put busyness and things above You. Help me to remember that apart from you I can do nothing, and all I have comes from You. I choose to make my relationship with You my first priority so I can do my work in a way that pleases You and brings You glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
