I Have Questions

DAY 13 OF 20

Have you ever had to teach your body to do something new and difficult? Whether it was riding a bike, or doing push-ups, or learning to swim, chances are, it was kind of tough! It may have taken several attempts, days, weeks, or even longer to achieve. Maybe you even shed some tears. We know that sometimes pain can lead to growth, and in the end, our suffering will be worth it! But other times, the pain we feel doesn't seem to be of any benefit. Sometimes, the pain just feels exhausting and pointless.

Jesus was no stranger to suffering. If you've ever wondered why God sometimes allows circumstances to be so painful or exhausting, remember God knows what it's like because Jesus knows what it's like. Because Jesus lived in this world and experienced intense suffering (physically, emotionally, and spiritually), we can trust him when he says to be courageous. His encouragement isn't empty — it comes from experience. Jesus conquered sin and death and, through him, we can get through and overcome too.

What would your day look like if you reminded yourself of how courageous and capable you are in Jesus?

About this Plan

I Have Questions

In times of loss, grief, pain, or doubt, it’s normal to have questions. If you’ve ever tried to make sense of your circumstances, wished life didn’t have to hurt so much, or wondered why God won’t fix what you’re going through, you’re not alone. In this 4-week devotional series from the Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four big questions we're sometimes afraid to ask, and what God says about them.
