My Hiding Placeનમૂનો
Where is your hiding place?
My son, Sebastian, was only five years old when he started going to school in Australia. Going to school was a drastic change for him. He went from being in a safe place with mom, dad, and his sisters, to going to an unfamiliar place every day.
Each morning my son would wake up with a smile on his face, put on his uniform, and have a happy breakfast. But that smile would automatically disappear when we got out of the car at the school entrance. In that moment, I would notice that Sebastian was a bit nervous. But nothing compared to the moment the bell rang and it was time to go into class.
With that sound, he would start to cry his eyes out, asking me to please not leave. This would continue until the teacher would come, take his hand, and lead him to the classroom, telling him that everything would be alright. This happened every morning, though Sebastian knew that by the afternoon he would come back to his safe place, our home.
Where do you go when life presents you with challenges? Where is your safe place?
When you are hurt, afflicted, stressed, or you feel loneliness, confusion or depression, do you have a hiding place?
The psalms show us constantly that David had a hiding place. He knew where to take refuge; he knew where to go when things didn't go well. When he was feeling overwhelmed, David depended completely on God.
Psalms 18:1-3 says:
"I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies."
I love that David addresses God as his stronghold. Almost all of us have a hiding place, a refuge to go to not only in times of trials and challenges, but also in times of peace and tranquility.
There are good hiding places and not so good ones, and some that are mostly temporary. But there is one that is powerful and perfect, the safest, one that lasts forever. That hiding place can only be found in Jesus. He is our stronghold in the midst of the storm, our pain, and in the midst of our moments of uncertainty and darkness.
Is Jesus your stronghold? God is completely committed to protecting your heart, your mind, and your soul against the enemy that is looking to destroy your faith.
God has good things for our life. He is our rock and fortress, the place where we can find refuge. He is our stronghold, our savior, and liberator. He provides shelter and protection.
Prayer: Lord, I give You thanks because even in the most difficult of moments I can trust that You are going to be my hiding place. Help me to put all my trust in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
