His Arms
“What he said next, I will always cherish and never forget: He said we were also lucky because when he put our daughter’s information out for agencies to show interested families, there were families all over the world interested in her. Families from Austria, Mexico, Canada, America, Portugal, and Spain wanted to be matched with her, but we had accepted her referral just in time.
This was amazing to me, since it took us at least a week to make a decision because we were trying so hard to work out her heart surgery issues first. It really did my heart good to hear all those other people wanted her, but we were the ones that got her! Mr. Pandit kept calling it luck, but I knew differently. It was all God’s doing and His orchestrated plan—His perfect plan.” (Chapter 12)
I’d dreamed about my future daughter every day, even before we were matched with her. Wondering what she looked like, was she getting proper care, was she even born, and was she safe? I longed to have her in my arms.
The truth is, she was already in Someone’s arms from the moment she was conceived. I picture the Heavenly Father gently forming her tiny frame in His hands, knowing about all of the physical trauma her body would face in just a few short years. I envision Him rocking her in His lap, His arms wrapped around her while whispering, “Everything is going to be okay because I place the lonely in families.
One day soon, Little One, in just the right time, I am going to entrust you over to someone to care for you. She is going to search hard for you and fight for you. Her heart will hurt when you ache. She will dream and laugh with you. She will also tell you all about Me and guide you on a journey that will lead you back to Me. But soon, she will come. I will take you from My lap and place you in her arms, and you will call her Mom.”
In His perfect timing, it all came together. We received the daughter God had formed and spoke life into: a daughter He made for our family. And one day you will have your child in your arms too. You will be able to look back and see the beauty of His great handiwork.
I know you are tired and may be weary in your process. Climb into the arms of the Great Comforter and rest in His blessed assurance that your child is resting in His arms too.
Take a moment and meditate on these Scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to engrave them on your heart. Bring Him your worries and then simply rest in Him and His faithfulness.
