The Power of Prayer

DAY 1 OF 7

What can prayer do?

Prayer can touch the heart of God and transform your life.

Could it be that prayer is the missing key in your life? Could it be that prayer will unlock such power and purpose in you that your life will never be the same? Your life will change and so will the lives of many others. Friends and family will recognize you as a man or woman of prayer. The Bible says, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16, NIV)

Prayer does not happen in a vacuum. An effective prayer life is built upon a few important aspects. We will look at the seven important foundations of a dynamic prayer life this week. So let’s start with HONESTY.

Paul tells Timothy that confession of sin needs to be part of any preparation for prayer. Have you ever wondered why it’s so important? I have, and I’ll give you my answer right now. It’s because God loves honest people. People who make excuses or blame others are not honest. But people who admit their mistakes are forgiven.

David was considered the “apple of God’s eye” but was full of sin, compromise, and even murder. And yet, he openly confessed and even sang about it: “I said, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you.’” (Psalms 41:4, NIV) and “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” (Psalms 51:7, NIV)

So what happens when you confess? Well, some may judge or ridicule you, but God will consider you righteous. And the prayers of a righteous man or woman are powerful. Your prayers will be remarkable because you will be made righteous based on your honesty and not your perfection.

Because you are a miracle.
