I Need You Lord: Devotions From Time of Graceનમૂનો
I’m Overwhelmed
It’s a great feeling to be on top of all your responsibilities and jobs. It’s misery to feel overwhelmed.
Maybe you over-promised, and now people are demanding work that is only partially complete. Maybe people you were counting on quit on you. Maybe you had some nasty personal reversals--a stretch of serious illness, investments gone sour, family crisis, or layoff of a breadwinner.
Maybe you bit off way more than you could chew and are feeling pretty inadequate. The feeling is like when you’re standing on tiptoes in deep water and you’re afraid that the water level will soon reach your nose. Panic begins.
David was a tough fighter, military leader, and skilled organizer. But he had his moments of terror too: “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand” (Psalm 40:1,2).
In fact the very reason that the Lord let him get into so many deep holes was so that his rescuing mercy would become so obvious. As Jesus once told the grieving parents of a man born blind, those hardships had come so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
When you are being overwhelmed, cry out to your Savior and watch for his big hand.
