DAY 9 OF 10

Abigail

David replied to Abigail, "Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you to meet me today! Thank God for your good sense! Bless you for keeping me from murder and from carrying out vengeance with my own hands.
1 Samuel 25:32-33 (NLT)

In this passage, Abigail is a beautiful, sensible, and capable woman. She is kind and hospitable too. She is able to see beyond herself and proves to be a good counsel to the men in her life by keeping them out of trouble. She kept her husband Nabal out of trouble and also prevented David from taking vengeance into his hands. She is a peacemaker! Our spouse is a God-sent helper and we should not take them for granted like Nabal did his. We must always be patient and listen to others, especially our spouse. This effort of listening can save us pain and trouble in the long run.

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, we would like to thank You for our spouse who is a precious gift given by You. Please help us value and love them the way You have loved us by laying down your life for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 1st Samuel

The book of First Samuel describes Israel’s transition from theocracy to monarchy. God granted the Israelites’ request by asking Samuel, the last judge, to anoint Saul as king while warning them of the cost of a monarchy. Due to Saul’s disobedience, God resolved to replace him with David as the successor. Saul’s life gives us an important spiritual lesson: to obey God is better than to sacrifice for him.
